INNOVA IRV participated in the event “Horizon Europe: Chips Joint Undertaking” in Málaga

Málaga TechPark hosted the informational session “Horizon Europe: Chips Joint Undertaking” this Tuesday, a key event in the development of the semiconductor ecosystem at the technology park. The initiative, organized by Andalucía TRADE in collaboration with the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) and the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), brought together over fifty experts, companies, and research centers interested in funding opportunities for projects in the semiconductor sector.
The event featured speeches from Felipe Romera Lubias, CEO of Málaga TechPark, and Rocío Muñoz Maestre, Director of Business Development and Value Support at Andalucía TRADE. “The development of the semiconductor industry at Málaga TechPark will allow us to connect with key funding and international collaboration opportunities. We are committed to positioning Málaga as a leader in this sector,” said Romera.
Muñoz, for her part, emphasized the great moment Andalucía is experiencing for its technological development through initiatives like this one. “The Chips Joint Undertaking is a unique opportunity for the Andalusian business ecosystem to access European funds and enhance its innovative capacity. At Andalucía TRADE, we will continue to support companies and research centers so they can make the most of these programs and strengthen their global competitiveness,” she said.
The event included a session on collaboration opportunities with IMEC, led by Thomas Kallstenius, Corporate Strategy Director at the prestigious European research center, which will open its first headquarters outside Belgium in Málaga. His presentation highlighted the potential for international synergies to strengthen the sector in Málaga and Andalucía.

Another key moment of the event was the presentation by Enrique Pelayo, National Contact Point at CDTI, who provided a detailed explanation of the objectives and priorities of the Chips Joint Undertaking program, as well as the available project funding calls. His talk included key recommendations for proposal preparation, offering attendees valuable information on how to access these investment opportunities.
Following the event, bilateral meetings with CDTI were held, allowing participants to delve deeper into their projects and clarify doubts about funding and collaboration opportunities. Thus, the event helped strengthen connections among the various players in the semiconductor ecosystem in Andalucía and fostered new strategic partnerships.
