Innova IRV participates in a project for the automatic management of green areas with Artificial Intelligence
The IA System for the automatic management of green areas project, in which the Ricardo Valle Institute of Innovation Foundation (Innova IRV) participates together with a consortium formed by Smart City Cluster, Tupl, CORDIS and the University of Malaga, has enabled the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, including advanced sensorization, communication, IoT and artificial intelligence, to monitor and control in real time agricultural areas and urban spaces.
The main objective of this project is to improve the management and maintenance of green areas through the implementation of advanced sensorization, communication and artificial intelligence technologies. This system will allow real-time monitoring and control of agricultural areas and urban spaces, such as parks and gardens, optimizing the use of resources and ensuring a more sustainable and efficient management.
At the core of this AI system for green areas is a study that has revealed that the implementation of intelligent models can result in a reduction of up to 50% in water consumption in mango and avocado production, without affecting yield.
This project is especially relevant for agricultural companies facing challenges related to water scarcity and resource use optimization, issues that are increasingly prominent in modern agriculture.
The financing has been obtained from the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, within the framework of the program to support AEIs to strengthen the competitiveness of Spanish industry, and is supported by the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
