Innova IRV becomes a meeting point for regional microelectronics ecosystems
Malaga has become these days the great national forum on Industry 4.0, thanks to the meeting ‘Collaborate Reset the Economy’, organised by Atlas Tecnológico, in collaboration with Málaga TechPark and Innova IRV, which has brought together more than 250 participants from the business world focused on digital transformation and innovation as vehicles to boost the economy.
Innova IRV has positioned itself in this framework as a meeting point for regional microelectronics ecosystems in Spain. In fact, the president of the Foundation, Ezequiel Navarro, and the president of Valencia Silicon Cluster and CEO of MaxLinear Spain, Mayte Bacete, announced “live” during their intervention at the round table “The challenge of Spain in the microelectronics revolution”, the agreement between the two institutions to work together and open to other Spanish regions.
The agreement between Malaga and Valencia stems from the call for grants to set up chairs linked to the microelectronics sector. “We have a responsibility, we have to make an effort to join forces, collaborate and seek points of union. Thinking about the chairs, they will have more strength if we manage to create a thread of union so that they collaborate and coordinate”, said Mayte Bacete.
In this sense, Ezequiel Navarro pointed out that “it is normal not to invent what someone else has already done, you buy it, it is normal to collaborate and there is a large amount of cross royalties in the sector”.
“These technologies require significant investments, so let’s have one very good laboratory for everyone, instead of eight or ten small ones. That’s why we all have to work together,” concluded the president of Innova IRV.
Throughout these two intense days, there has been time for “one to one” meetings, visits to leading companies in the technology sector located in Malaga, but above all for debate, in which our CEO, José Manuel Leceta, has also participated in a round table on “Innovation, a strategic tool for Europe in the new order”, together with Felipe Romera, director of Málaga TechPark; Francisco Marín, partner at GED Conexo Ventures; and Àurea Rodríguez CEO at EIT.
“The ways of innovating are changing and, therefore, innovation policies must also change, putting companies and entrepreneurs at the centre”, José Manuel Leceta pointed out in this space.
Attendees were also able to listen to our VP of Artificial Intelligence, Toni de la Prieta, who spoke about how to “reinvent the ecosystem with a global vision by addressing the new relationship with suppliers, customers, employees and academia”.
An exceptional line-up that was completed with the participation of companies such as Tupl, Premo, Trops and TST Sistemas, as well as industry leaders such as Paula Carsí, director of innovation at Ford of Europe; Xavier Ferràs, professor at Esade; Pedro Martín, director of operations at Perte CHIP; Guillermo Dorronsoro, from Zabala Innovación and the University of Deusto.
