Innova IRV joins RISC-V International
The Fundación Instituto Ricardo Valle de Innovación (Innova IRV) has joined RISC-V International, the foundation responsible for the industry’s most promising Open Source processor project, as a Community Organization Member.
RISC-V International is an organisation that works to build an open and collaborative community of software and hardware solutions. RISC-V ISA architecture aims to reduce the increasing complexity of the market-dominant instruction repertoires, which are mainly two, Intel x86 and ARM, with the goal of setting a reduced, standard, modular and open ISA that can be tailored for specific applications.
Through various events and workshops, RISC-V International is changing the way the industry works together and collaborates, creating a new kind of open hardware and software ecosystem.
In this sense, INNOVA IRV as an ecosystem of innovation applied to the market, which aims to help the growth and consolidation of the industry generating digital technologies in Spain, and whose areas of work include microelectronics, joins RISC-V to provide its collaborators and partners who wish to develop RISC-V based solutions with a strategic and technical advantage.
The RISC-V ISA Open Standard architecture began to take shape in 2010 at UC Berkeley as a necessity to reduce the enormous and growing complexity of microprocessor instruction repertoires, and to limit the heavy dependence on third countries and corporate oligopolies.
The Foundation, includes more than 450 companies and organisations from 33 countries around the world, such as Google, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Samsung, Western Digital, IBM and Microsoft.
